Objective:

To obtain more work that I can perform in my personal office on my personal computer to enhance my personal income. I do typing on my word processor for students and small businesses and some bookkeeping.

Experience:

National News Service Blacksburg, Virginia. August 1995 to present. Managing Editor and Personnel Manager. Varied duties in editing and obtaining news stories and marketing them, reviewing resumes and applications.

Blackeyed Pea Restaurants, Dallas, Texas Sept. 1979 to Apr. 1995. Starting Position was accounting clerk and ending position was Administrative Accounts Payables Coordinator.

Worked in many accounting facets, Payables, Receivables, Fixed Assets, Payroll and worked with scheduled payments like rents and percentage rents. When I started with the company, it was mostly all hand posting but we worked on three different computer systems before I left the company and I progressed to doing financial statements as well. In my last position there, my duties included supervising three other clerks on my staff and being a consultant to other Coordinators for store Payables (by then we had 306 individual stores and four concepts). I also developed the procedures manual for approval and processing of invoices company wide.

Monterrey House Restaurants, Jan. 1978 to Aug. 1978. Worked as assistant to the floor manager. In charge of the other waitresses and cashiers when the manager was not there and had to open up the cash registers and close them at night and make the deposits. Left only because my husband was transferred to Dallas.

Red Lobster Restaurants. Sept. 1972 to Sept.1977. Started as a waitress, then was promoted to head waitress.

Education

Mccallum High School graduated 1966

Mountain View Community College began studies in Sept. 1978, as a full time student and continued there when I went to work in Sept. 1979 as a part time student until June 1990 Studied varied business and accounting courses. GPA 3.87.

Personal

I enjoy working on my computer and with the various programs at my disposal. I have an interest in learning new things. I like butterflies and flowers, especially roses. I have two married daughters, three grandchildren and a 20 year old son now in the Marine Corps. I collect figurines and fancy doll lamps. I am a Notary Public in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I am very interested in conservation issues and of course in gathering news items. My available time is flexable.
